Heyy loves!
How are you? It’s February 14th, 2017. Happy Valentine’s Day for those who are celebrating it!
Today I will do quick review about the new Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick. A lot of you guys have requested it on my Instagram photos. So, does this product really worth the hype? I mean, it costs below IDR 100,000 / USD 4.99, BUT so many people including beauty bloggers / vloggers around the world raved about it.
It’s never been really an excitement for me until I saw a full shades swatch on Google done by a blogger. The colors were mostly pretty, attractive enough for me to at least try one or two of them.
Fortunately, Mbak Dina from @makeupuccino (Instagram) was kind enough to send the product. It took a while for me to choose what shades would I get and I ended up taking all of them hahaha! (except Oh My Dolly!).
What I really like from having (mostly) the entire shades of a product, I can pick what I love and toss what I don’t like. Some of my favorite shades have better quality in terms of formula and performances than the rest. I love Rebel Rose because it has the best performance than the rest. If you followed my swatch parade of Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick, you can also read review for each shades, too.
The first shade I tried was ‘Video Vixen’, the shade I’ve wanted to try out from the day I saw the full shades swatch on Google. Not bad, I think. Although it was not the best experience from both ‘inexpensive product’ or ‘highly-raved product‘ liquid lipstick classification. I mean, at least one of these factors needed to stand out. Was it just cheap? Or was it just simply outstanding product — and so much deserve to be raved about?
Well, let’s continue to the review to find out.
✨ FORMULA
The very first thing you need to look out from a liquid lipstick product is the formula. Of course, nothing is perfect. Both expensive and affordable products have their own strengths and weaknesses. I wanted to know how good Wet n Wild developed a product at such affordable price for — yours truly — liquid lipstick lovers around the world.
The product has liquid-y formula that sets to matte within seconds. I love how lightweight the product is and let me tell you guys… the staying power is awesome! But we’ll get to that later.
Like I said, every product has its own flaws. This Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick has inconsistent formula. Some of them work like wonder and comfortable on lips, some just dry my lips out especially the lighter shades, such as Nudist Peach, Pink Really Hard, Coral Corruption, Flame of the Game. Some has seriously awesome pigmentation, some just won’t work even I tried really hard to even it out. Most of the shades need extra effort to make an even application so I hardly disagree with (many) bloggers who stated ‘one swipe is all it takes‘… to what? ;)
When it comes to patchiness, only two things could take part: the formula, or the applicator. I will definitely blame the applicator, though. The doe-foot applicator is exactly the carbon copy (even the tube is) of Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lips, but they do have slightly different formula. Jeffree Star Velour Lips is thicker than WnW Catsuit, and also more pigmented. That’s why Jeffree Star Velour Lips can work with that kind of stringy applicator. It will not leave strings mark on lips when the product dries down to matte. On the other hand, WnW Catsuit has thinner formula. No matter how good the applicator is, it just doesn’t feel right. WnW Catsuit however is better to work with less-stringy applicator.
I own Redrum, Doll Parts, Prom Night, Androgyny, Anna Nicole, Gemini, Abused, Watermelon Soda, etc. and I found his bright pink-shades such as Doll Parts and Watermelon Soda could work easily on my lips. They are more pigmented than the pinks from WnW Catsuit, to be exact. If you want to see my swatches of Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick, click here.
There you have it.
How about the scent? The Wet n Wild MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick has this generic chemical-like liquid lipstick scent, but not too overpowering. It will fade within seconds, though.
One good thing, this product feels so soft on lips. It’s also lightweight and transferproof. But after about 4-5 hours of wearing, it starts to dry my lips out and can be easily crumbling, especially on the center of my lips.
✨ LONGEVITY
5-6 hours with visible flakiness at the final hours. This means you need to wipe the product off your lips and start over.

✨ FINAL VERDICTS
At this price point, I can’t just simply compare Wet N Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuid Matte Lipstick to more expensive products, so I just do review based on the hype that this ‘may be’ a dupe for higher-end brands, including Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick. Not to mention how close the similarities of the packaging between these two. This product is not so superior, but it’s also not a ‘trash’ you can easily ignore. To me, the quality is high enough for that price.
I do recommend not to buy all shades, though. Here is shades recommendation for you:
SO MUCH YES:
Rebel Rose, Berry Recognize, Nice to Fuchsia, Nudie Patootie, Missy and Fierce.
SO-SO:
Give Me Mocha, Pink Really Hard, Coral Corruption, Flame of the Game, Video Vixen.
UHM, NO:
Nudist Peach, Goth Topic.
